Deputy Principal - Leader of Curriculum (5MUs)

Full time, permanent – this position commences January 2022.

Onewhero Area School is a rural Year 1-13 school on the outskirts of Auckland, we have an exciting vacancy for an experienced or emerging dynamic leader to join our senior management team.

We are looking for an outstanding leader who is also an exceptional teacher. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to inspire and bring others along with the school pedagogies, staff expectations and pastoral care. They will be able to work successfully with a team and lead staff professional development and reflective discussion. This role has the responsibility for leading pastoral care in the Senior School (Years 11 to 13).

Other important attributes include a sound knowledge of the NZ Curriculum with strengths in curriculum development and implementation of inquiry learning. It is imperative that the new DP be able to continue to develop, manage and lead, 21st-century learning practices and our local curriculum throughout the whole school. A proven ability to plan and prioritise is essential to be successful in this busy but rewarding role.

The successful applicant will have the personal qualities to effectively engage students, whanau, the community and actively share our school vision of ‘Being the best we can – No limits!’  

Applicants must be registered with the Education Council NZ.

This position is 0.4 Teaching (based on successful applicant’s strengths) and 0.6 Leadership release.
