Guidance Counsellor
Permanent, part-time role.
Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 3pm (term time only).
Start date: 17th July 2023
We are seeking a passionate, qualified counsellor to provide counselling services to our young people (ages 5 to 18 years old) with mental health, behavioral and/or emotional needs who will help enable them to thrive. If you have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in building relationships with young people we would love to hear from you.
The successful candidate will work alongside our staff, plus external agencies, in supporting our students and whanau. It is therefore vital that the successful candidate have experience in developing strong relationships with external agencies/teams of professionals that support young people.
A willingness to create (or contribute to) proactive approaches to school wide student wellbeing is a must. As is having a good level of administrative skills – being confident and experienced with technology for the purposes of information sharing and keeping records.
Applicants could be a NZ registered teacher or fully registered counsellor (with New Zealand Association of Counsellors or equivalent).

Year 1 to 8 Classroom Teacher

Suitable for beginning teachers
We are looking for an energetic, capable classroom teacher to join our area school. The teaching load for 2023 is years 3-4. The successful applicant will be a team player with excellent communication skills who has a passion for teaching these year levels/age group.
The school is focussing on further developing student agency and play based learning, any strengths or experience in this area would be an advantage, as would experience with DMIC and local curriculum. We follow PB4L philosophies and use restorative practices at our school.

Release Teacher
Part-time, fixed term.

Teacher Aide
Part-time, fixed term.
This is a fixed term (for the remainder of the 2023 school year), part-time (11.30am to 2pm per school day, term time only) role working with students with specific needs.
This role requires someone who is able to build relationships easily and who is able to think creatively to adapt learning activities for the students they are working with. Excellent communication skills are a must as the successful applicant will need to be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers and other supporting agencies.

Itinerant Music Teacher

We require an itinerant music teacher with the ability to teach piano and vocal. The successful applicant will also need to be willing to lead extra-curricular groups.
Hours for the position are 4 hours per week.

Social Sciences Teacher
Full time, permanent.

We have an exciting opportunity for a teacher to join our team at Onewhero Area School. We are a rural school just 25 minutes drive from Pukekohe. We require an enthusiastic, innovative teacher to join the Social Sciences department to teach a mixture of NCEA and junior (year 9 & 10) classes. NCEA subjects could include Geography, History or Business Studies. English as a second subject would be an advantage.

The remuneration for this position sits within the scale set out in the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement with a starting rate of $55,948 and maximum rate of $90,000. Upon appointment the candidate will be assessed by Edpay and placed within the scale according to this agreement.
Hours for this position are a minimum of 30 hours per week, hours of work are set within the Area Schools Teachers’ Collective agreement.
